Supposedly, there was a horse that could “count” by tapping its hoof on the ground. Some one could ask it, “What’s 2+2?”, and it would tap four times.

Pretty sure it was proven that the horse was just trained to tap as many times as its trainer surreptitiously signaled it to.

 Interesting that it was unconscious on the trainer's part. I had always assumed it was a deliberate hoax.

It’s kind of like the study they did on how a dog could measure the passing of time well enough to guess when its owner would arrive home. They didn’t have any idea, but eventually found out that it was due to the owner’s smell ebbing to an *exact level*. Move extra clothes belonging to the owner into the same room, and the dog is flummoxed when he comes through the door . Astounded its master has arrived “early”.

Animal thinking is sometimes hard to gauge.

 Fascinating. I always park in the back, but sometimes I walk around the house and come in the front door to mess with my dog. This gives me a new trick to try if she ever figures that one out.

FRIDAY!

No travel for me today. I’m already standing at my Baton Rouge office desk trying to get software updates installed and my test servers back online after IT updated the server room switches and knocked all of my servers offline. Then it’s back to Houston for a two-week run, including a FLYING WEEKEND!
